Black Jack identifies the kimaira, a disease peculiar to the island and thought to be extinct. The episode reworks “Hurricane” and borrows from “99.9% Water”. [13][14]

The actress Michelle, finally a star, can no longer eat and wastes away. Black Jack cannot find the cause, and in despair she meets Dr Kiriko, an advocate of euthanasia. Inspired by “Two Black Doctors” and “The Death of a Star”. [13][14]
Black Jack finds on a young Englishman’s body the scars of operations more skilful than his own. The young man dreams every night of a woman being killed; the trail leads to a village in a country just out of civil war. Inspired by “A Passed Moment”. [13][14]
A letter posted two years earlier begs Black Jack to save a dying wife. Arriving in the snowbound mountains, he is met by the ghost of a Kamakura-era warrior. An original story. [13][14]

A young Englishman’s body is sprouting plant shoots, while an old man in the Andes defends an ancient beech that is to be felled. Black Jack looks for the link between the two. Based on “Buds” and “The Old Man and the Tree”. [13][14]
The young heir of a large group has had since childhood a tumour shaped like a human face, which grows back after removal. Black Jack realises that its cause is a wound of the mind, while a killer stalks hotels. [13][14]
