Summary

Early in the 21st century, Dr Tenma, head of the Ministry of Science, loses his son Tobio in an accident and builds a robot in his image with seven powers: Atom. Disappointed that the machine cannot grow up, he casts it out. Taken in by Professor Ochanomizu, Atom lives with a robot family, goes to school and uses his strength for peace, in a world where robots and humans struggle to live together.

Adapted from the manga serialised from 1952 to 1968 in the monthly Shōnen, it is the first Japanese animated television series in a weekly thirty-minute format. It laid the foundations of the rise of Japanese animation [1].
